The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) has today launched the 5th National Public Relations Symposium at MultiChoice Uganda head offices in Kololo, Kampala Uganda. The symposium will take place on 3rd July at Golf Course Hotel in Kampala.

The 5th National PR Symposium marks one of the flagship activities leading to PRAU’s official Golden Jubilee celebrations in October and will run under the theme, “Beyond Headlines: Strategic Communication for Effective Organisations,”. The event will bring together communications professionals, policymakers, corporate executives, development communication practitioners, government communicators, academia, students and international public relations experts to examine the evolving role of strategic communication in shaping Uganda’s development agenda.

PRAU President Irene Nakasiita delivers addressing members of the press during the launch of the 5th National Public Relations Symposium. She emphasized the growing importance of strategic communication in helping organisations navigate misinformation, digital disruption, reputational risks and evolving stakeholder expectations.

Speaking during the launch, PRAU President Irene Nakasiita expressed gratitude to sponsors, partners and the media fraternity for supporting the association’s journey towards its 50th anniversary. She highlighted that the milestone represents not only its institutional longevity but also the growing recognition of public relations as an essential driver of organizational credibility, stakeholder trust and national development.

She said, ‘’The symposium comes at a time when organizations across both public and private sectors are increasingly navigating misinformation, digital disruption, reputational risks and rapidly changing stakeholder expectations. Against this backdrop, PRAU believes strategic communication has become indispensable in enabling institutions to remain transparent, accountable and resilient’’.

PRAU Governing Council members, Sponsors and Media Partners engage in a friendly tabletop foosball tournament to celebrate the spirit of the FIFA World Cup 2026 season during the launch of the 5th National Public Relations Symposium at MultiChoice Uganda Head offices in Kololo.

The days programme will feature distinguished speakers drawn from public relations, marketing, advertising, human resource management, government institutions, civil society organizations and international communication networks. Through expert panel discussions, case studies and interactive sessions, participants will explore practical approaches to strengthening institutional communication, managing crises, building public trust and leveraging strategic narratives for sustainable impact.

The event will also reflect PRAU’s commitment to strengthening collaboration across professional bodies. Sister organizations including the Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda, the Uganda Marketers Society, the Uganda Advertisers Association and other professional networks have been invited to participate, reinforcing the growing convergence between communications, branding, marketing and organizational leadership.

Kitimbo Pearl Elisabeth, Brand & Communications Manager at Crown Beverages Limited (Pepsi Uganda) speaks during the launch event, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen strategic communication, professional excellence and industry collaboration through the National Public Relations Symposium.

Participation has been made accessible through subsidized registration fees of UGX 200,000 for PRAU paid up members, UGX 250,000 for non-members and UGX 70,000 for students.
