NCBA Bank Uganda has partnered with MAC East Africa to launch a dedicated School Bus Financing Partnership, providing school owners, directors and administrators with an integrated solution to acquire school buses and support the safe and reliable transportation of learners.

Launched today at Protea Hotel Kampala under the theme “Driving the Future of Our Schools,” the partnership brings together NCBA’s financing capabilities and MAC East Africa’s automotive expertise to respond to the growing transportation needs of education institutions.

Through the partnership, eligible schools can access up to 100% financing for the acquisition of school buses, reducing the upfront capital required to make the investment. The proposition also includes flexible repayment periods of up to 72 months, an up to 90-day repayment holiday and fast approval processes designed to accommodate the planning and operational cycles of schools.

In addition, customers will benefit from free servicing and maintenance, comprehensive insurance and free tracker installation, providing support beyond the initial acquisition of the vehicle.

Speaking at the launch, Julius Konyani, Executive Director, NCBA Bank Uganda, said the partnership reflects NCBA’s approach to developing practical financial solutions around the ambitions and needs of its customers.

“At NCBA, we believe banking is not simply about providing financial products; it is about understanding our customers’ ambitions and providing solutions that help turn those ambitions into reality. For schools, transport is an important investment that can improve convenience for parents and learners while enabling institutions to serve families across a wider geographical area. Through this partnership, we are making that investment more accessible and manageable.”

Konyani noted that the proposition is designed to address both the acquisition and ongoing management of school buses, giving schools greater flexibility as they invest in their institutions.

The partnership also leverages MAC East Africa’s expertise in the automotive sector to provide schools with a more integrated vehicle acquisition solution.

Aditya Arora, Country General Manager, MAC East Africa, said the collaboration provides an opportunity to combine automotive expertise with tailored financial solutions for education institutions.

“A school bus is more than a vehicle; it is an important part of a school’s ability to provide a reliable service to learners and parents. Our partnership with NCBA brings together the right vehicle solutions and financing support to help schools make this investment with greater confidence. We are pleased to work with NCBA to support schools as they build safer, more reliable and sustainable transportation systems.”

The launch was also attended by representatives from the education sector and the Ministry of Works and Transport, highlighting the importance of safety, vehicle reliability and responsible transportation in the school environment.

Speaking at the event, Apollo Kashanku, Assistant Commissioner, Transport Regulation and Safety, Ministry of Works and Transport, emphasised the importance of prioritising safety alongside access to school transportation.

“Safe school transport requires more than simply having a vehicle on the road. It calls for reliable vehicles, responsible operators, appropriate safety measures and a commitment to protecting learners. Partnerships that bring together financing, quality vehicles and a focus on road safety can play an important role in strengthening school transportation in Uganda.”

The partnership comes at a time when schools continue to invest in infrastructure, technology, learning facilities and other services to improve the experience of learners and respond to the expectations of parents.

For NCBA Bank Uganda, supporting such investments forms part of its broader commitment to providing financial solutions that enable businesses and institutions to invest, grow and achieve their ambitions.

The School Bus Financing Partnership is available to eligible education institutions, with school owners and administrators encouraged to engage NCBA Bank Uganda to understand the financing requirements, eligibility criteria and application process.

The partnership reinforces the shared commitment of NCBA Bank Uganda and MAC East Africa to “Driving the Future of Our Schools” by making school transportation investment more accessible while supporting the growth and sustainability of education institutions.

NCBA Bank Uganda Limited is a subsidiary of NCBA Group PLC, East Africa’s largest bank by digital customer numbers.
